Richa Ghosh was born into a Bengali family, and her father was a club cricketer who later became a cricket umpire. She found her interest in cricket by watching her father playing cricket.
She got admitted to Baghajatin Athletic Club at the age of four, where she learned the basics of sports. She couldn’t attend her board exams because she was practicing for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, where she got an opportunity to play as a wicketkeeper-batsman.
Richa was mainly known to play Bengal Domestic Cricket, ICC Tournament, and Bengal Women’s Under-19 cricket. She made her presence in the Bengal Domestic Cricket and Under-19 team at the age of 14.
After the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, she was also named in the India players list for the 2020 Australian Women’s Tri-Nation Series. Richa made her WT20I debut for India on 12 February 2020 against Australia in the final tri-series.
She was then called up for the national team in August 2021 for the series against Australia. She played for India in the WODI against Australia on 21 September 2021, her WODI debut.
